                  A RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING TO
                  DETERMINE WHETHER CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT
                  TO CUMMINGS HIGHWAY, MORE SPECIFICALLY
                  DESCRIBED HEREIN, LYING CONTIGUOUS TO THE
                  PRESENT CORPORATE LIMITS, SHOULD BE ANNEXED TO
                  THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE.

       	    	 WHEREAS, it appears that the prosperity of the City of
       Chattanooga, Tennessee, and of the territory herein described may 

       be materially retarded and the safety and welfare of the
       inhabitants and property thereof endangered if certain territory
       described herein is not annexed; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the annexation of such territory may be deemed
       necessary for the welfare of the residents and property owners of 

       the said affected territory and the City of Chattanooga as a
       whole; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the annexation of certain territory described
       herein appears to be for the overall well-being of the 
communities
       involved;
       	    	 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
       THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Clerk of the City
       Council be and is hereby instructed and required to have 
published
       in the Chattanooga Times and Chattanooga News-Free Press,
       newspapers of general circulation in the City of Chattanooga,
       Tennessee, on the 26th day of December, 1994, a notice that a
       public hearing before this body will be held on the 2nd day of
       January, 1995 at 6:00 p.m., in the City Council Room of the
       Municipal Building of the City of Chattanooga, to determine
       whether the following described territory adjoining the present
       corporation boundaries should be annexed:
            BEGINNING at the intersection of the south right-of-way
            line of Cummings Highway and the Marion County/Hamilton
            County line; thence, following the Marion
            County/Hamilton County line in a northerly direction,
            along the western line of parcel 25, Hunnicutt tax map
            143, then continuing in an easterly direction along said
            county line and the north property line of parcel 25,
            map 143, to the most northeastern corner of said parcel
            25 and the most northwestern corner of parcel 12, map
            144, and being also the existing city limit line of the
            City of Chattanooga, Tennessee; thence, in a southerly
            direction along the existing city limit line, crossing
            Old Kelley Ferry Road, then crossing Cummings Highway to
            a point in the north line of parcel 2, map 153; thence,
            leaving the existing city limit line, in a westerly
            direction, along the south right-of-way line of Cummings
            Highway, being also along the north property lines of
            parcels 2, and 1, map 153, and continuing along the
            north property lines of 20, 19, 12, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14,
            13, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 1, 1.1 and 1, map 143, to the POINT
            OF BEGINNING.
